GENERAL THOUGHTS
Unemployment is a global issue affecting everyone — it does not need to occur.

A fluidity and connectedness is missing in our local communities. For hundreds of thousands of years the concept of 'unemployment' did not exist. People were connected with the needs of the tribe and community; goals were assessed, tasks agreed upon, communicated to the people, skills and projects were matched, acted upon, assessed again — all in a relatively fluid flow.

Today we wait until someone else assesses the goals. We wait for someone else to create the jobs in which we lemmingly apply. Communication occurs in a silo fashion: one person contacting a company for one position to be filled. It is only then, once hired by a company, action is taken.

  • How do we recreate this flow in today's global yet moving more increasingly local society?
  • What do people need to keep from spiraling down mentally and physically while unemployed or during transition?
  • How can we increase the creativity, innovation and invigorate the spirit of people to start being proactive members of a tribe, community, society and/or global environment in which we all live?
  • How can a compensation and reward system be put in place that works for both the unemployed and the organisations who cannot afford to hire them in the first place?
